Kaia Network Permissionless Migration: Advance Notice
As part of Kaia’s transition to a Permissionless network, KAIA deposited in the existing Public Delegation will need to be migrated to new staking contracts.
This transition includes the deployment of new staking contracts and a network hard fork. Staked KAIA is not moved automatically, so existing Public Delegation users will need to withdraw their KAIA from the current contract and re-deposit it into the new one, following the schedule and guidance below.
Who this affects
Users with KAIA deposited in the existing Kaia Public Delegation.
How the migration works
The migration proceeds in this order:
Request withdrawal → 7-day waiting period → withdraw → re-deposit into the new staking contract
Each step is carried out by the user. Submitting a withdrawal request alone does not complete the migration — your KAIA is moved only once you have withdrawn and re-deposited it.
To make this easier, Kaia Portal will provide a dedicated Migration menu. Connect your wallet to see your current staking positions and migration status, then proceed step by step. The menu guides you through moving to the new staking contract of the same GC you currently delegate to.

Key dates
- From 17 November 2026: withdrawal requests open via the Migration menu
- From 26 November 2026: withdrawals and re-deposits begin
A 7-day waiting period applies after each withdrawal request. Individual withdrawal timing and follow-up steps will be covered in the detailed guide.
For CR Mission 1 participants
If you complete the migration according to the schedule above, your KAIA staking contribution recognition is maintained as is.
What comes next
A detailed usage guide will follow on 13 November 2026, and the Migration menu opening with withdrawal request instructions on 17 November. We will continue to share the withdrawal and re-deposit schedule and step-by-step reminders after that.
