We’re thrilled to introduce Gas Abstraction (GA), a new feature integrated directly into Kaia Wallet that makes the gas problem a thing of the past.
Why “gas” trips people up
You already know the drill: every Kaia on-chain action costs a little KAIA to cover network fees. But what if you only hold USDT you bridged in, or BORA you just won in a game?
Until now you had three less-than-ideal options:
- Place a tiny KAIA order on an exchange — and still pay the minimum withdrawal fee.
- Bridge KAIA from another network.
- Nudge a friend to send you a few cents’ worth.
Not exactly the smooth, Web-3-is-magic moment we all want.
Enter Gas Abstraction (GA)
Gas Abstraction lets Kaia Wallet swap a tiny slice of your existing token into KAIA inside the same transaction. That means:
- No KAIA in your wallet? Still good to go.
- Fee paid seamlessly with USDT or BORA (more tokens coming).
- You don’t have to press a new button or learn a new flow — it’s woven into your everyday use flows and the wallet handles everything behind the scenes.
In short, GA turns “blocked by gas” into “transaction sent” before you even notice.
You can find more background details here.
What experiencing GA feels like
Let’s look at a simple example — sending USDT to someone. The Send screen still looks almost the same — just a tiny GA helper under Estimated Fee that shows up only when it matters. You keep focusing on what you meant to do (send tokens); the wallet quietly solves the gas puzzle for you.
Here’s how the new chooser works when pressed:
- If you hold enough KAIA and GA-supported tokens, a pop-up list shows every candidate — KAIA plus USDT or BORA. Pick whichever you prefer.
- If you have no KAIA but more than one GA-supported token with enough balance, the same pop-up list displays all of them so you can choose.
- If you have no KAIA and just one GA-supported token that covers the fee, the wallet selects it automatically.
Either way, one tap and you’re done.
Beyond Send: Swap & Purchase flows
The same magic now powers any action that could leave you gas-strapped:
- Swaps — trade one token for another even if KAIA is zero.
- Smart-contract purchases — mint an NFT, stake in a farm, you name it.
We won’t clutter this post with more screenshots — the UX looks almost identical, only the little GA helper appears when needed.
Tokens supported at launch
For now, we only support USDT and BORA, but the list will keep growing.
